Viral Videos

In short, viral campaigns use existing networks and do not require much in terms of resources and have the potential for spreading like wild fire.

You can’t really know whether a video will become viral or not, until it is launched. However, there are things that you can do to make its chances of becoming viral greater. If your videos do become viral, by any stroke of luck or marketing tactic, it is one of the best forms of gorilla marketing to date. The reason is that videos play a very significant role in projecting marketing message - whether it is about your event launch or any other product. You need to end the videos with a call to action, in order to ensure that the viewer takes the next step towards your sales funnel- instead of just ending the conversation there.

Today’s tip! A novel way to rise above the noise is to send prospects or associates a video mail as an alternative to email.

  • It was very interesting this past week to watch main stream media (ABC News with Charles Gibson) meet viral social media, with the Wedding Dance video from YouTube. It is interesting commentary that the video got nearly 3 minutes play (edited down from 5 or 6) from the original!

A call to action is important! I have not had the
pleasure of producing a good video yet due to
my fear of the camera. I will be putting out videos
in the future and this peace of Information, helps
as to how I should end them.

I like the point that we need to have a call to action on the end of the video so posting a phone number or e-mail or web site is very important and making sure it is shown several times so the viewer can follow thru. This is going to be a great marketing tip to promote our course through viral marketing. way cool
  • It is hard to predict which videos go viral. But if you are lucky enough to have your video go viral, than you can count on a lot of extra traffic. A great example of a video that has gone viral is Google Friend Connect
  • What I really enjoy is trying to predict what will go viral - when we speak to friends about whats hot out there we always get a view. Online is no different only we get to ask the whole world. Its exciting and important to keep tabs on what thoughts people are having. Simon make this all clear in his book on social traffic. A great read for our times Watch Google Friend Connectto get a feel of what viral videoing is all about

I agree, Simon, that video is one of the most powerful tools that one has today to market one's message. That was very evident during the Google Friend Connect project. Being that YouTube is connected to Facebook and Twitter helps tremendously. I've also seen that if you place your website under the description first, this helps to get you and your company seen.

  • I love Simon's comment that we need to rise above the noise. I even think it is a great idea to tell people explicity in a video that this is your intention - it keeps one credible and encourages them to watch your spot rather than the millions out there for viewing. People want to buy credibility, not just product. Watch the video to really understand how to go about this.Google Friend Connect
  • We may not know whether a video will go viral but we do know the many strategies to employ once it does. My suggestion is PLAN for it going BIG so that you can act immeidately to raise rankings by knowing how to tag, do an article, tweet others about it etc. Get with the programme before hand so that you can win in the moment. Simon teaches the step by step process in his book and clip Google Friend Connecton social traffic so we really have little excuse - tx Mr Ford
  • What about collaborative video watching - get others that you trust and like to comment and do the same for them - the pie is big enough for us all to succeed so lets use viral video'ing to its fullest capability. Watch Google Friend Connectto really get this. Simon reinforces the idea that collaboration is key in his book on social traffic and i like this kind of thinking. Our new world is about quantum thinking and momentous leaps of faith in each other.
  • I think it is intersting to watch what WORDS people use when TALKINGn about VIRAL videos. This will help us to know how to channel that sales funnel in an even more accurate way. I listen to the young guys especially as they seem to impact on each other more than the middle aged generation do. Then start tagging and doing keyword searches to see it all happen. The video made by Simon has helped me to think broadly on these issues too - check it out Google Friend Connect
  • I am just lovign the impact of viral videos because it really reinforces that social media marketting works because of the people out there who buy into you first, then the product. Simon's point though on ending with a call to action is the key differentiator between success in sales and just being seen as credible. His book brings this home to us all in a very clear way - watch the video to get a taste and see what it does for you Google Friend Connect
  • Simon's comment about ending videos with a call to action is I think the key to success in viral videos. People can enjoy a video and tell their friends but it is meaningless from a sales point of view if they don't hit the link button after that. good input from Simon and his video Google Friend Connect on SM Traffic. Tx Simon
  • Yes viral videos are everything. Check out the lateast hit video on youtube by searching funny wedding dance, millions watched it cause their friends told them to - we need to do the same with SM marketting Simon is right yet again. Watch Simon's video for real good practical way to enhance your social media skills Google Friend Connect
  • Seeing someones face tells you a lot about the credibilty of the product and I think Simon emphasizes that in his statement that viral videos can be effective and impact on millions. It will be exciting to see this happen with social media marketting because authentic voices and faces can only mean sales - Check out the video to see more good stuff from Simon - Google Friend Connectyet again!
  • I also love what Simon says about viral videos not using huge resources. This levels out the playing fields and makes the little guys creativity as valid as the huge branding machines out there. Great point made by Simon in his book - his direct attitude is refreshing! This comes over well in his video too - check it out Google Friend Connect
  • Viral Videos are really exciting - if you hit your target market in their 'happy spot' I think Simon is right - the potential for hitting millions of people is great. People love to tell friends about a good video - somehow the seen word is more accessible for people these days than the written word so we have to give this marketting strategy our best shot. Keep it fun, keep the msg simple and lets watch the rest happen!!! Simon's video makes this point really well Google Friend Connect

Powerful advice in last statement asking reader at end to do call for action which drives to sales funnel! Otherwise they are left hanging.

Gorilla marketing at its best! The power of viral video with a link in there where you have grabbed people's attention can skyrocket someone to the top! We have all seen it happen. Your point about not having to use resources and instead use existing networks can really leverage a campaign. Look forward to creating a video with the intent to go viral! Thanks Simon!
  • Simon says Viral Videos are Effective. Spot on. More so than we believe. In a video we can very often see peoples true colours. It is easier to establish trust, authority and leadership. The compenent we look for in Social Media Marketing.

I suppose luck plays its part in getting a video viral, but lets not wait or rely on that happening. Hard work and good syndication is what will could in the long run.
  • yes jonathan it will be fun to see a video go viral and to perhaps be a part of it.the call to action is always important for any message from what I can see but often on of the huge details people ignore. Online browsing guidance goes a long way to directing people along the path. Direct mail marketers like Dan Kennedy have been driving it home for years.
  • Now this is one of the things I'm looking forward to in your upcoming campaign.
I've seen you do some amazing stuff, but I can't wait to see you make a video go viral. It's amazing how social media has changed marketing. Anyone with a good concept and a good enough network can get their message in front of millions.

    Take that Old Media =)
