Is Yahoo Buzz all Fuzz?

After opening up to the public, it seems Yahoo Buzz has been able to generate quite some traction around the product. To me, the six month wait was rather disappointing in the sense that they didn’t blow me away with anything innovative. So far, it seems to be at par with Digg, Propeller and others of their like.

In Yahoo Buzz any one can submit their interesting story to a link and have an opportunity to get buzzed by the Yahoo community. The stories are arranged by category and is very similar to the concept of digging. Stories on that topic will get an extra boost in the rankings. You can also discover most remarkable story or video or can share it with other social networks.

Is there anything different that they’re doing? If you’ve benefited from regular traffic spikes through Buzz, share your stories with us.

  • I have wondered also what value Yahoo Buzz is adding. To me it is more of the same. The only thing it does tell us, is that Yahoo is taking social media seriously. It is another confirmation that social media are here to stay and that all the big players want a part of it.

You know, with the new #gfc module, visitors at your site can now create a "mini buzz" ( on a site level)? They read a story, if they like it they click and then you can display the results , of users favorites stories, on your home page or something, as a feed. It's getting even better on that micro level, because you may display on your home page, not only your blog best stories but also stories from other sites, as long as you did it correctly (similar to what you guys did with roamnigheads. You can find more a bout it in my blog. so theoretically, you may create a site with "users favorites stories", from any site using #gfc, as long as they add your site to their alternate sites lists, put half of the module code (button) at their stories/pictures/ items and "give" the second part of the code (the feed) for you to implement in your site.
