Marketing Like Revolving Doors

Event marketing using social media tools is about creating the right campaigns that have the maximum impact. Social media and networking channels offer a lot of flexibility in crafting out our messages just the way we want to. You can measure the impact and reactions of your messages and adjust your campaigns accordingly.

To keep up with today’s pace - businesses are like revolving doors for launches. You’ll notice how they’ll go through an extensive hype building pre-launch campaign, and then finally launch; only leading to another relaunch or special mini-launches. The interesting thing is that this process actually works!! I have been studying event marketing tricks for a good time, and have found this cyclical launch technique fabulous for business.

In essence, all you are doing is extending the event backward and forward. Backwards into a pre-launch stage where your core focus is on building hype towards the event. Forwards into a post-launch stage, where your core focus is on gathering feedback, leaving a good taste in mouth, following up, keeping in touch and sharing event experiences.

You probably do all of these things whilst interacting with the people you are closest to already, all you have to do now is try to do them online where a growing audience can participate. Using online tools for extending the event backward and forward increases the overall success and impact of the launch, since it makes it easier to reach out to the audiences.

Great post about building hype before launch and follow up after launch. Online tools that Simon shares are in another blog that makes this easier to track. The point is well taken about getting feedback after the event and keeping in touch with your new fans.

Revolving door is so powerful too by measuring the impact of comments left from our Social Media accounts. It has been great to see this in action. Thanks for the tip and the book Social Traffic!
  • At last FLUIDITY comes to thinking about campaigns - yes I have witnessed how Simon's concept of revolving doors emphasizes over and over again how the real success of a campaign lies in paying attention to to the BEFORE DURING AND AFTER then doing it all again - tweeking each time for maximum excitement at each phase. It almost guarantees success when you listen to people's feedback and then act on it accordingly. It shows sincerity, authenticity and respect for your target market - what better way to keep people coming back. Thank you for this Simon - like DeeJay says it leaves us aware that we can't change even one thing in a campaign without a thorough due diligence. But the due diligence is at last FUN , INTERACTIVE AND REAL.
  • Marketing is indeed like a revolving door. The difference between revolving doors and regular doors is that it is NOT static. It must keep moving. The revolving door is designed to keep unwanted things out (e.g. the cold or the heat) but to let movement occur and for people to go out and in. Launches serve the same purpose. They keep things moving (aka momentum) throughout the lifecycle.

Simon your ability to open up your mind and convey it to your devoted followers is exciting and very thought provoking. The revolving door principle is fascinating in that it continues to build a fever of interest. Now, how to get it right is my challenge. I believe that will be come a little easier if I continue to follow you and Social Traffic.

Ispiration and your a bility to share your well researched mind is indeed appreciated. Thanks. David
  • By continually reading and thinking about your posts, Simon, I've been unconsciously trained to expect -- even to seek out -- the thread that connects ALL of your posts into the thoroughly comprehensive piece of work that your philosophy of marketing is. This post is, of course, no different. It is rather still another instance of you having moved the little window of focus for easier consumption. The revolving door concept SO beautifully flows into and from the post "Events -- Where Communities Meet." By embracing the philosophy of Life as a String of Events as augmented by the feeder thought of paying considered attention to everything leading up to events as meticulously as we pay attention to the after-flow, we are presented with a singularity that prevents any number of ills: 1.) Being willy-nilly attracted to the next shiny object; 2.) Changing ANYthing you do without THOROUGH due diligence, 3.) Forgetting the value of a customer; forgetting your purpose.

The Revolving Door concept smooths things from a series of dots to an ever-strengthening flow of purposeful doing-ness. With these overarching concepts in place, all one needs to then do is absorb the how-to particulars. Thanks, once again, for your book. Its promise is indeed delivered in this course. Wowzers, Simon!

Very powerful concept for marketing of launching and relaunching and getting feedback to then get excitement going again for another launch! Testing and getting feedback to measure and then improve is great message too. Was great to watch for Earth Day and now for Social Traffic too! Online is so awesome to extend event backward and forward. Thanks for the tips here and in your book "Social Traffic"!
  • This is one of the best lessons I learned from the Social Traffic book.

I've been watching this campaign for almost a year now and I still get excited when we relaunch. The energy levels get higher each time and more and more people keep pouring in. The best part is the quality of people that are joining us. Each time we relaunch we get so many interesting and smart new friends.

The revolving door IS an amazing technique!
  • When you showed us how to measure your impact, then I found a few other things to play it really unfolded for me. When their is one core focus, the message becomes a syncronized media machine. It was beautiful to watch when we did the earth day campaign and we had all those parts working systematically.........however we can only get better.
