Introduction to Web 2.0 as a Marketing Platform

Search engines have always been the king of the Internet jungle. But lately, everything has changed. It seems there is a new alpha male on the scene, demanding major attention. That dominant presence is Social Media in the midst of Web 2.0 and it refuses to be ignored.

In the month of April 2008, the Internet attracted roughly 360 million unique visitors for the month. Out of that same month, My Space & facebook each attracted in the vicinity of 230 million visits. These numbers have such rapid, unstoppable growth that they are expected to completely double by this time next year.

So what exactly is Web 2.0? The term itself simply defines a trend in web design that has been occurring for years. It revolves around user participation. Websites that encourage user generated content that is easily accessible and easy to use, thus allowing users to customize pages, as well as share them with friends to network and socialize online are Web 2.0 compliant. It is no longer the owner of a website who determines content on the new Web 2.0. It is solely the users.

With Web 2.0, users determine their own experience and other users can follow along or not. Thought leaders become authorities that others follow leaving a data footprint that harnesses collective intelligence that informs us what’s hot and what’s not. This collective intelligence ultimately influences thoughts of thought leaders in a repetitive spin that sorts and improves content that is communicated to users in the place of their choosing, using the medium of there choosing, in a time of there choosing, across the entire globe.

The intelligence of the collective group is always going to be more intelligent than that of the individual. When we are able to channel that collective intelligence into concentrated sources like Web 2.0 platforms, we not only interject a new, user-friendly meeting place for different interest groups to be able to share and collaborate, we make our world a smaller, stronger, and smarter place to do business.

The Internet’s largest social networking sites have included platforms for event promotions, invitations, RSVP's & guest networking. This educates us to the fact that the events in people’s lives are highly important aspects of life. In fact, when you reflect on a life, it’s more often than not you remember just who a person was through an event you shared.

These highly successful social media sites have played it smart by including event profiling and networking features as part of their platforms. What wasn’t so smart was diluting these features to be pretty much all there is when it comes to overall functionality…

Let’s just say, going beyond the next level has been long overdue. You need more than just social networking, sharing profiles, and following each other’s day. That’s why we’re introducing an event specific social platform where not only event planners, organizers, promoters, businesses, and fundraisers can meet, work, and network together; we’re introducing a cutting edge, multi media rich platform to personalize event pages that allow a place where anyone can network amongst friends, families, and business associates. Our platform also allows for users to promote & resell tickets to the hottest events and sell merchandise straight off the event pages while the money gets deposited into personal bank accounts.

So without further ado, we’d like to introduce you to the next highly anticipated Web 2.0 alpha male. EventsListed.com.
