We were sick and tired of the so-called gurus out there and limited vision that they taught in their courses. They only gave away information about how to use tools, without actually teaching anyone why they’d want to use them – or how to use them in combination with other tools – or how to mold the tool around your specific needs, etc. Either these gurus don’t know themselves, or they want to keep milking you by having you come back to them for more and more bits of information.
The next group of people are those who seemingly know a lot of stuff, but they cling to their knowledge, like a lioness protects her cubs. You can’t go close and survive. They forget that the biggest value of today’s world is in giving and sharing information, not in hiding it.
There wasn’t any trainer or book that addressed these needs, by teaching you how to walk the walk or swim with the tide. Nobody wanted to experiment, and test, and go crazy validating theories to understand the mechanics of the online marketing world. That’s where I came in.
I have been teaching online strategies to friends and acquaintances for over a decade now – from pizza parlor owners to farm land owners, to event marketers, to backpacking accommodation providers, to safari tourism spots, to clubs and bars, to B grade movie stars. Yes, I’ve had quite an adventurous life – but the best part of it all is that throughout my life, the world kept throwing people with problems at me… and I kept teaching them as a friend and mentor. I love helping people – it’s like a natural high.
When so many of these friends made it to the top of their business, just because of a mindset shift that I introduced to them, I just knew that it was time to share these with the rest of the world.
It took me quite a bit of time to get down to writing this book, because I was busy with managing the development of my event marketing web 2.0 startup, running 3 super-active blogs, and managing virtual teams in 4 different countries, along with building my own personal brand and presence online. There were times when I wished there were more hours in the day. But when you have to do something important, you just have to get down to do it – sacrifice sleep, social life, and everything else. Because of this, I’d like to dedicate this book and its success to my family, who have supported me through this time. I wouldn’t be the same person without them.
The good news is that you don't have to follow those self-proclaimed-gurus or formula-based-programs. All you need to know is the inside-out of the different social tools and how they all correlate to each other.
