Raising funds to help the Earth this Earthday Birthday |
We have this exciting discussion going on in Facebook about collecting the donations into one pool so we can do something on a much grander scale than ever seen before.
The good thing about our presence on social networks is that it’s possible for us to be able to raise tens and thousands of dollars if we approach it the right way. If our core 100 people just get 10 of their trusted friends to join the cause… and if everyone just puts away $10… we’d have $10,000 off the bat right there and then. Now instead of increasing the amount per person, we can just spread the message out horizontally to a larger audience base, consequently inviting more people to join in. The best and most tested social approach of doing that is to choose the right ten people in the front place – if you get 10 people, who believe in the cause, suave to same moves, beat the same drums; then they would easily be able to invite ten of their close friends as well. So that can effectively result in 100 (core) * 10 (friends) * 10 (friends of friends) * $10 each = $100,000 within a day or so with zero marketing. I mean lets face it, in a world where people have at least 200 online friends here, a good 300 online friends there – finding ten isn’t the problem… the real problem is making sure we choose the right kind of people.

I wanted to publicly announce the Social Traffic Inc’s involvement with EarthDay Birthday for all external readers who haven’t been following us.
There are a number of interesting stories in this project. Basically this project is being done by the Social Traffic team for their first client Eventslisted.com. The Social Traffic Team was a byproduct of a collaborative thought leadership group on Facebook. These people met and talked about the social web and sought to help make it more quality-centric and relationship-based.
Through the outcomes of those discussions, the basis of this separate social marketing company came into existence – and today it rides on their collective capabilities. The group went through a few weeks of screening process through which is transparently elected its leadership group based on the input and skill levels of the initial members. After a few weeks of working together, it came down to a handful of strong passionate personalities, while the weaker or less committed ones faded away in the background.
Although all of their systems, models and strategies are different, what really set it apart was how intricately each shareholder’s value was linked to the selection process. Everything was based on the value added to what has become a team first community – people who provide the most value and spend the most time, will earn the greatest stake in the organization. This system was tricky, it had to be transparent to work and work it has – it has filtered out the non-value-providers be it through lack of commitment to the community or vision from the value-providers week after week, eventually resulting in the current, tightly aligned group left standing.
Earth Day
After the months of planning, the Social Traffic group is finally rolling out their first extensive marketing outreach for the EarthDay Birthday campaign.
Basically, anyone who would want to host an event on Earth Day (Aprill 22nd) can get on board the EDBD program. By doing that, Social Traffic Inc will help promote their events for them across social media. Events Listed offer a state of the art event management and social networking marketing platform, the can publish event pages that showcase audio, video and up to 30 other plug and play feeds and capsules for marketing their events. Social Traffic will help them manage brochures and posters as well as electronic invitations and viral ticketing commissions. They will also provide resources for managing budgets, tasks, sign ups, tickets etc driving hundreds of thousands of people into the Earth Day event pages.
For this first project, Social Traffic Inc will be doing all of this for free for those event organizers hosting Earth Day celebrations. The concept behind Earth Day is something very close to heart for the Social Traffic Inc and is their perfect way of officially launching their marketing services online. We’ll post out a list of the core group members along with their capabilities in a few days.

Our beautiful earth, how much are we indebted to you? |
Although our carbon emissions have increased immensely over the years, in many ways I feel like our new generation is more ‘aware’ about environmental issues than our forefathers ever were (perhaps this has to do with the fact that the issues are far more glaring today than ever).
For those, who have taken a back-seat on all the climate issues, it’s your chance to put your input in and let the world know you’re in on the game. First a little background:
Our gift, our earth, our life.
Every year, since 1970, the world commemorates the anniversary of the first environmental movement in this regard. It’s a day of showing unanimity, resolve and commitment to making the world a better place for everyone – regardless of class, culture, color. The movement was initiated in the States at a time when amidst other advancements, environment hazards had gained momentum. The founder of Earth Day, Gaylord Nelson proposed the idea to raise awareness amongst the masses in order to pressurize the government to take immediate action. As a result of this successful movement, the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts took place.
By 1990, Earth Day went global, shedding light on the significance of environmental issues on a global front. Around 141 countries participated in this fight for a clean and safe environment and it continues to date. Environmental enthusiasts around the globe voice their discontent at the deteriorating state of the environment.
Since then, every year on April 22nd we demonstrate the resolve by doing charity, giving alms, participating in group activities, attending events, joining online causes, donating, ringing peace bells, rallying, tree-planting, car-free roads, and more.
People today, are changing their lifestyles to be more environment friendly. Recycling, resource preservation, banning plastic bags, sanitation, car-pooling, tree planting, alternative energy sources, promoting organic food are some of the individual and organizational initiatives that we see around us.
However, a lot of young people that I come across, want to pitch in to the cause, but don’t have the right platform to do so. They have energy and enthusiasm which isn’t channelized effectively.

Keeping this in mind, we’re starting an initiative to promote and plan massive global events on Earth Day 2009, all across the world. These events will require a lot of promotional efforts that we have open seats for. If you know anyone who wants to contribute his/her time to making this possible, please contact Glen on Skype (ID: glen.crosier) or opt-in here. Through these apparently small steps you can contribute a great deal in combating the environmental challenges we face today.
We want you to be part of the Earth Day Birthday success – and be able to tell your friends and families about your contribution to the world’s biggest event to date. From T-shirt designing, to promotions – our Social Traffic Leadership Group is going to guide you all the way. In fact, all those who opt in will get a chance to have free access to a series of cutting edge social media marketing training videos throughout the campaign. You will be assigned your own personal mentors to facilitate you in your work so that every contribution to Earth Day Birthday 2009 counts.
But here’s the real value and it’s value you cannot buy in today’s world. If you join the Social Traffic Inc team you will become an active participant in a massive social media marketing campaign on a global scale. We are talking about moving hundreds of thousands of people into physical events on Earth Day 2009. You will be directly involved in moving this many people through the execution of a strategically planned social media marketing strategy. You will do it under the guidance of a personal mentor whilst working along side some of the best modern day, new media marketers in the world. You will not only be taught how to plan and execute a conversation marketing campaign on Twitter, you will plan and participate in one. You will not only be taught how to dominate 5 of the top 10 results in Google for up to 30 competitive key word phrases,… you will plan, execute and track this as a member of a team working together to realize some ambitious, exciting yet attainable goals as one.
We are capping our first wave of evangelist at 150 people. We had 70 signed up before publishing this note. Our first wave launch their campaign next week. I don’t know about you guys but the only thing worse than being second, would be being third.
We want the world to stop and take notice of us. We want these events to be a raving successes. We want Obama’s cabinet to kudos us. We want to show our support to the great movements around us, like the “WE” campaign. We want to tell the world, that truly, it is time for change. We’re ready to take action. We want to save our planet from all of its perils. We want to promote peace and security and love.
