Facebook

Facebook.com is a perfect place for connecting with your existing clients, attracting new businesses or for networking with other professionals in your fields of interest. Facebook provides an environment which is conducive to building these relationships which is why they recently hit the 100 million users mark.

At first I thought the Facebook hype and romance would fade away as newer and better social applications kept trotting along - until I used it myself. For businesses, Facebook has a lot of revenue potential as it is a wealth of deep relationship-based consumer data. Having said that, it’s important to note that you can’t just jump into the bandwagon and start marketing there – it has to be a gradual process.

Your first step to creating a presence is your ‘Facebook Profile’ - this is a personal profile of you, not your business. You need to add a personal element to your business if you want room in these social networking sites. This personal touch makes your business seem more human, and consequently more likable. So, in Facebook, your personal profile should be about you - the image that you want to share with your networks. Eventually, when people start following you, they will also become interested in your business. But initially, make sure you get your personal profile right.

  • Facebook is an incredible platform when used properly. I was just talking to one of the SEO guys I know pretty well and he lives over in Florida. Now this is quite an amazing story because he was telling me up about how back in high school he was big into wrestling and had this other jock friend who was big into baseball.

Strangely the baseball guy had become a wrestling coach during his adult life. I was talking to my friend and he had said that out of the blue he got a message on Facebook from this old friend. And he was telling me the story of how his friend's 11-year-old daughter overheard her dad talking about my friend Joe and she did a search for him on Facebook. She found his profile and asked her dad if this was the Joe he was talking about and it was.

The Facebook platform is absolutely huge and the people using it very diverse. You'll never know when one of your old friends may contact you. And this doesn't even talk about the powers for business, marketing, and authority building purposes.

    Event Launch Strategies: Facebook

Indeed, Facebook is one of the finest social media venues to introduce yourself to family, friends and colleagues. It's appeal is that you can strategically, tactically and compellingly introduce yourself, your areas of interest, including your business and or profession if you do it in a low-key, non-hype way.

I believe that the viral marketing of your added-value content through this venue can easily be accomplished, if you are patient and cognizant of the content and interest needs and desires of your fans and friends.

This is Great to know, I get lots of people befriending me, and all I see on there page is a big ad about everything they do, and I don't even know who they are yet. My FB is not to bad but I will definitely go back and re:tweak it after reading this article.

Good article sharing how Facebook is great environment for building relationships! One of the things I learned in your book "Social Traffic" concerning Facebook and all social media sites is to find people in same niche and build a relationship there instead of just having tons of followers. Quality vs Quantity. Gradual process and making it personal to truly get to know people. Thanks Simon for article.
