Social Media Landscape

We’ve already talked about the value and importance of getting familiar with Social Media. In this chapter, I’ll walk you through some of the basic landscape elements of Social Media. It’s a complex set of social networks, rich media platforms, distribution channels, blogs, videos, micro-content and content aggregation.

If you look at all of these different elements from a distance, you’ll see that they are all linked up together to present a single cohesive world of Social Media. There are synergies, mash-ups and content syndication methods allowing users to use multiple platforms and applications together in rich ways. The following sections will elaborate these different elements in more detail.
